Kathmandu: President of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Lok Bahadur Thapa, met with FAO Chief Economist Maximo Torero to discuss preparations for ECOSOC’s upcoming Special Meeting on Agrifood Systems.
During the meeting, the two discussed key priorities for the event, including increasing youth involvement, improving financing for agrifood systems, and promoting the use of science, technology, and innovation to strengthen global food systems.
The discussion is part of ongoing efforts to advance sustainable, inclusive, and resilient agrifood systems worldwide.
