Kathmandu: UN ECOSOC President Lok Bahadur Thapa briefed the Informal Ad Hoc Working Group on the Mandate Implementation Review on November 26. In his remarks, he outlined ECOSOC’s mandate, work cycle, and its role as a key platform for dialogue, policy-making, and coordination across the UN development system.
President Thapa mentioned that the upcoming General Assembly review of ECOSOC and the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) is an opportunity to evaluate the Council’s work and enhance complementarity between ECOSOC and the HLPF to better advance the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
