Kathmandu: Lok Bahadur Thapa, UN ECOSOC President, convened the Special Meeting on “Safeguarding Energy and Supply Flows: Supporting global development through international cooperation.’ on May 15.
President Thapa stated that the disruptions in energy and supply flows are affecting industries, markets and the daily lives of people everywhere. This is not only an energy challenge, it is a development challenge, a financing challenge, and a test of our collective ability to deliver on the promise of the 2030Agenda.
He further stressed the need to strengthen development cooperation across countries, institutions and sectors, protect the most vulnerable, preserve resilient trade and supply networks, and accelerate investments in sustainable energy systems to support a more secure, equitable and sustainable future for all.
