Kathmandu: H.E. Lok Bahadur Thapa, UN ECOSOC President, held a productive meeting with H.E. Annalena Baerbock, President of the General Assembly, on June 18. They welcomed stronger cooperation between ECOSOC and the General Assembly and discussed key UN priorities, including UN80, the reviews of ECOSOC and the HLPF, the selection of the next UN Secretary-General, and preparations for HLPF2026.
President Thapa stated that they look forward to the Joint Special Thematic Meeting on 24 June, which will contribute to the comprehensive high-level midterm review of the Doha Programme of Action. President Thapa and President Baerbock expressed commitment to advancing sustainable development through stronger multilateral cooperation.
