Kathmandu: Lok Bahadur Thapa, UN ECOSOC President, held a monthly meeting with Annalena Baerbock, President of the UN General Assembly, on strengthening GA-ECOSOC coordination, advancing inclusive multilateralism, implementation of the Pact for the Future, and ongoing UN80 reform efforts.
They reflected on the successful conclusion of the Joint Special Meeting on “From Digital Inclusion to Innovation” and discussed the upcoming Joint Special Thematic Meeting contributing to the comprehensive high-level midterm review of the Doha Programme of Action. We also exchanged views on climate action, debt sustainability, and migration challenges.
President Thapa further briefed the PGA on preparations for upcoming UN processes including HLPF 2026, the Operational Activities Segment, the Humanitarian Affairs Segment, and the ECOSOC Special Meeting on “Safeguarding Energy and Supply Flows: Supporting Global Development through International Cooperation.”
