Kathmandu: The President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UNECOSOC), Lok Bahadur Thapa, participated in the United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation 2025, held under the theme “South-South and Triangular Cooperation.”
In his address, ECOSOC President Thapa stressed that South-South & triangular cooperation are vital to shaping inclusive development, fostering mutual learning, and driving innovation across the Global South.
The United Nations Day for South–South Cooperation, celebrated annually on 12 September, marks the adoption of the 1978 Buenos Aires Plan of Action (BAPA) for Promoting and Implementing Technical Cooperation among Developing Countries.
