Kathmandu: As part of Nepali Movie Month, the Embassy of Nepal organized a felicitation and interactive session in honour of eminent Nepali artist Nir Shah on 2 July 2026.
The program was attended by Mr Chittaranjan Tripathy, Director of the National School of Drama, and Mr Sandeep Marwah, Founder of the Asian Academy of Film and Television, along with members of the Nepali community in India.
CdA (Charge d’ Affaires) Dr Surendra Thapa acknowledged Mr Shah’s outstanding contributions to Nepali cinema as an actor, director, producer and mentor. The distinguished guests highlighted the centuries-old artistic and cultural ties between Nepal and India and emphasized the importance of further strengthening cultural cooperation.
Mr Shah described cinema as a universal language of human emotion and underscored the Nepali film industry’s contribution to employment, culture and the national economy. He also called for collective efforts to preserve, promote and strengthen Nepali cinema.
The programme featured cultural performances by Nepali artists based in India, including dances to songs from films associated with Mr Shah.
