Kathmandu: FAO Nepal led discussions at the Global Gathering of Pastoralist Women. The discussion highlighted growing international efforts to strengthen livelihoods and expand leadership opportunities for pastoralist women and youth.
Speaking at the gathering, Ken Shimizu, FAO Representative for Bhutan and Nepal, described the event as “a global moment of recognition, solidarity and action” for pastoralist communities, stressing the critical role of women as custodians of indigenous knowledge, biodiversity and resilient food systems.
The event also marked the launch of Dimitra Clubs in Nepal, an initiative aimed at promoting community dialogue and collective action at the grassroots level.
