Kathmandu: FAO Nepal successfully hosted the event ‘Global Poverty Reduction and Rural Revitalization: China Experience and Nepal Practice’ on April 26.
The event was chaired by Li Chang, Vice Mayor of Manluanzhan Village, and featured distinguished guests including Professor Li from China Agricultural University (CAU), the AFAOR-Nepal, and Jun He from FAO Headquarters, along with other Chinese and Nepali delegates.
This event marked an important milestone in Nepal–China dialogue on poverty reduction. Arun GC, Assistant FAO Representative of Nepal, presented Nepal’s poverty status, key challenges, and development needs, while Mahesh Badal, Program Specialist at FAO Nepal, shared Nepal’s Four Better Model Village concept and approach. Similar experiences from China were presented by Professor Dong from CAU.
The discussion focused on exchanging lessons learned and practical experiences and exploring potential areas for future collaboration. Professor Li delivered the concluding remarks, addressing key discussion questions raised by the participants.
