Kathmandu: On the occasion of World Bee Day 2026, FAO Nepal held an orientation session at the Bindabasini Secondary School, Mandandeupur, Kavre, on the importance of bees in food production and environmental protection.
Students also took part in a poem competition, where they shared their ideas and commitment to protecting bees and nature in a creative way.
The organization stated that the program helped students understand why pollinators are important and encouraged them to take action to protect the environment for a sustainable future.
FAO Nepal also brought together beekeepers, cooperatives, enterprises, and UN colleagues, under the theme “Bee Together: People for People and the Planet”, to highlight the vital role of bees in food security, biodiversity, sustainable livelihoods, and resilient agrifood systems.

From honey tasting and local product exhibitions to knowledge sharing and meaningful dialogue, the event showcased the richness of Nepali honey and the importance of supporting local beekeeping communities for a more sustainable future.
