Kathmandu: Hon. Minister for Finance of Nepal, Dr. Swarnim Wagle, who is in Washington, D.C, at the invitation of the President of the World Bank Group, have held meetings with officials from the World Bank and other US. Institutions.
Dr. Wagle held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank Group, at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington, D.C. on October 5. During the cordial and productive meeting, Dr. Wagle expressed sincere appreciation to the World Bank for its longstanding partnership, solidarity, and valuable support to Nepal.
Discussions focused on further strengthening Nepal—World Bank cooperation, including continued support for Nepal’s recovery, rehabilitation, and reconstruction efforts in view of the scale of damage caused by the devastating floods. President Banga conveyed his condolences and deep sympathies to the Government of Nepal and the families affected by the devastating floods and expressed support for Nepal’s recovery efforts.
Earlier, Mr. Jason Small, Acting Vice President for Operations at the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), paid a courtesy call on Hon. Minister Dr. Wagle at the Embassy. The two sides discussed the status of implementation and the timely completion of projects under the MCC Compact. Following the MCC meeting, Ms. Caroline Vik, Chief Policy Advisor of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), paid a courtesy call on Hon. Minister Dr. Wagle at the Embassy. Discussions focused on Nepal—U.S. economic and development cooperation, including opportunities to further enhance investment and private-sector partnerships.

Dr. Wagle also visited the Embassy of Nepal, where CDA a.i. Mr. Sharad Raj Aran briefed him on the activities and services’ of the Embassy, as well as opportunities to further advance Nepal’s relations with the United States. Dr Wagle encouraged Embassy officials to continue providing effective and responsive services, accord high priority to economic diplomacy, and work toward further strengthening Nepal’s bilateral relations.
CDA a.i. Mr. Sharad Raj Aran, Joint Secretary Mr. Amrit Lamsal, and other officials of the Embassy were present at the meetings.
