Kathmandu: Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shisir Khanal, held a telephone conversation with Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, on August 29.
During the conversation, the two leaders exchanged deepest condolences and sympathies on the loss of lives in both countries caused by the devastating floods at the Rasuwa-Gyirong port area.
They discussed the ongoing search, rescue and relief operations, including the repatriation of Nepali nationals stranded in China. The Minister thanked the Government of the People’s Republic of China for emergency humanitarian relief support.
The discussion also covered deeper coordination on the sharing of real time hydro-meteorological data between the two countries, and strengthening mechanisms to develop effective early warning systems.
