Kathmandu: The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shisir Khanal, inaugurated the National Youth Council Model United Nations (NYCMUN 2026) as Chief Guest in Bhaktapur on May 22.
During the programme, Minister Khanal emphasized the government’s commitment to youth empowerment, investment in youth leadership, skills and global exposure that remain central to national transformation and good governance.
The Foreign Minister reaffirmed Nepal’s steadfast commitment to the UN Charter and the multilateral order, referring to Nepal’s presidency of the UN ECOSOC and contributions to UN peacekeeping.
He called upon Nepal’s youth to engage meaningfully with global issues, including climate justice, sustainable peace and the rights of landlocked developing countries.
The program was chaired by Ramjee Yadav, Minister for Youth, Labour, and Employment.
