Foreign Minister Khanal Addresses Seminar on ‘Student Migration: Policy, Aspiration, and Global Mobility’

Kathmandu: Shisir Khanal, Minister for Foreign Affairs, addressed a seminar organised by the Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA) on ‘Student Migration: Policy, Aspiration, and Global Mobility.’ on April 28.

Highlighting the roles of Nepali students abroad, Minister Khanal emphasised the pursuit of knowledge has always been a journey beyond borders to expand perspectives and expertise.

He underscored the need for a diaspora knowledge network to map the specialised skills of Nepali students and link their global insights to national development priorities.

On the occasion, Minister Khanal also highlighted Nepal’s unique strengths in areas such as Climate Science, IT and Ancient Wisdom to build world-class institutions that match the ambitions of our youth.

“We are not losing a generation; we are distributing one,” he said, stressing the need to transform migration into a circular flow of knowledge that ensures every journey culminates in a contribution to the nation.

The programme was attended by government officials, migration experts, researchers, and young diplomats of MoFA.
