Kathmandu: Hon. Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal has said the Nepal government is firm in resolving border disputes through diplomatic channels.
Minister Khanal, during his visit to India, said it during a press conference organized at Nepali Embassy in New Delhi on June 7, “Nepal is ready to solve Nepal-India border issues via dialogues and diplomatic medium.”
In response to a question, the Foreign Minister reminded that Lipulek, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani belong to Nepali territory. Nepal has already made its official stand clear on it before India and China, he added.
“Present Nepal-India border was delineated since the 1816 Treaty. So any topic surfaced on the border can be sorted out in a diplomatic way and bilateral talks. We’re for the diplomatic channel to resolve these topics,” Minister Khanal explained.
The report of the Eminent Persons Group (EPG) formed as per agreement of the prime ministers from two countries should be submitted to the respective heads of governments. According to him, the Nepal government works in cooperation with both neighbours. He also explained Nepal’s foreign policy priorities, Nepal-India relations and Nepal’s engagement in the international community.
The Nepali Embassy expressed gratitude to all attending media persons and expected similar cooperation in the days ahead.
