Kathmandu: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and property caused by the recent heavy rains in Nepal.
“The loss of lives and damage caused by heavy rains in Nepal is distressing. We stand with the people and Government of Nepal in this difficult time,” Modi said on X (formerly Twitter). He added that India, as a friendly neighbour and first responder, remains committed to providing any assistance needed.
Responding to his message, Nepal’s Prime Minister Sushila Karki thanked Modi for his heartfelt solidarity and support. “The support from our friendly neighbour, India, in this difficult time is deeply appreciated by the people and Government of Nepal,” she said.
