India-Funded School Building Project Kicks Off in Okhaldhunga

Kathmandu: The foundation stone for the construction of a new building for Shree Swarnantaral Basic School, Toksel, in Manebhanjyang Rural Municipality-7, Okhaldhunga, was laid on November 10 in an online ceremony.

The school building is being constructed with financial assistance from the Government of India under the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) initiative. The grant will fund a three-and-a-half-storey building with classrooms and separate toilets for boys and girls.

Since 2003, India has undertaken 579 HICDPs in Nepal, including 93 projects in Koshi Province, with five projects in Okhaldhunga. As part of this cooperation, India has also gifted 150 ambulances and 62 school buses to various health and education institutions in Koshi Province, including four ambulances in Okhaldhunga district.

The HICDPs are part of the broader development partnership between India and Nepal, reflecting the strong friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
