India, Nepal Sign MoUs for 11 Development Projects Worth Rs 1.16 Billion

Kathmandu: The Embassy of India in Kathmandu, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration of Nepal, and various implementing agencies signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on November 10 for 11 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal.

The projects, to be carried out under the grant assistance of the Government of India, will focus on the education, health, and waste management sectors, with a total estimated cost of NRs. 1.16 billion.

The 11 projects include the construction of school buildings, health posts, hospitals, and a waste management centre across different provinces of Nepal, including Koshi, Madhesh, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim.

Since 2003, the Government of India has supported 590 HICDPs in Nepal, of which 502 have been completed. These projects cover key sectors such as health, education, drinking water, connectivity, sanitation, and public infrastructure.

Officials from both countries said the new projects reflect the continued partnership between India and Nepal in promoting development and improving community well-being across the nation.
