India Welcomes Nepal’s New Interim Government Under Sushila Karki

"As a close neighbour, a fellow democracy and a long term development partner, India will continue to work closely with Nepal for the well-being and prosperity of our two peoples and countries," India states.

Kathmandu: India has welcomed the formation of the new Interim Government in Nepal under the leadership of former Chief Justice Sushila Karki. In a press release, New Delhi expressed confidence that the new administration would help foster peace, stability, and democratic progress in the country.

The statement emphasized India’s role as a “close neighbour, a fellow democracy and a long-term development partner,” assuring that it would “continue to work closely with Nepal for the well-being and prosperity of our two peoples and countries.”

Interim Prime Minister Karki’s appointment as the head of the transitional government comes in the wake of days of nationwide protests led by Nepal’s Gen Z youth, which ultimately resulted in the ousting of the previous government.
