Kathmandu: Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava paid a courtesy call on Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal on November 9. The two discussed matters related to peace, security, and election preparedness for the upcoming House of Representatives election, scheduled for March 5, 2026.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Minister Aryal emphasized that the government’s top priorities include maintaining peace and order, curbing corruption, and ensuring good governance. He said the government is working diligently to conduct the election on time in a peaceful and fear-free environment.
Minister Aryal also highlighted the importance of strong bilateral relations between Nepal and India, noting that India’s cooperation in border security management is vital before and during the election, given the open border shared by the two nations.
In response, Ambassador Srivastava expressed confidence that Nepal would successfully conduct the March 5 election. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to continue its friendly relations and constructive engagement with Nepal, supporting efforts to ensure the election’s smooth and successful completion.
