Kathmandu: Indian Army chief General Dhiraj Seth on August 18 paid courtesy call on Rt. Hon. Prime Minister and Defence Minister of Balendra Shah. During the meeting, issues of mutual interest and ways to strengthening military ties were discussed, according to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
H. E. Naveen Srivastava, Indian Ambassador to Nepal, was also present at the meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar.
Indian Army Chief arrived in Kathmandu on August 16 on a four-day visit at the formal invitation of Chief of Nepali Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel.
Army Chief Seth was conferred the honorary rank of General of the Nepal Army by President Ram Chandra Poudel on August 17.
Nepal and India have a tradition of conferring the honorary rank of General of the Army on each other’s army chiefs since 1950.
