Indian Embassy Commences 2nd Edition of the Indian Ambassador’s Cricket Tournament

Kathmandu: The Embassy of India commenced the 2nd edition of the Indian Ambassador’s Cricket Tournament on June 26. The Tournament will see 8 teams play the T20 format at the Tribhuvan University’s Cricket Ground and Mulpani Cricket Stadium from June 26 to June 28. 

H.E. Naveen Srivastava, Ambassador of India to Nepal, and Gahendra Rajbhandari, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Nepal, inaugurated the Tournament at the TU Cricket Ground with a match between the Indian Embassy and MoFA. SAARC Secretary General, Officials from the UK Embassy as well as Australian Embassy also joined the inaugural match along with cricket enthusiasts from Kathmandu. 

The 8 teams included MoFA, the Indian Embassy, the diplomatic community in Kathmandu, Nepali media, former Nepali cricketers, Nepali Government officials, corporate organizations, and the Indian diaspora in Nepal. 

The Embassy thanked Cricket Association of Nepal for their support in organizing the tournament. 

They further stated that this annual tournament celebrates the spirit of cricket – a sport that continues to bring the people of India and Nepal closer and strengthening the people-to-people ties between the two countries.
