Indian Embassy Inaugurates HICDP in Morang, Koshi Province

Kathmandu: The School Building of Shree Panchayat Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Sundarharaincha Municipality-7, Gothgaun, Morang District, Koshi Province in Nepal,  built with Government of India’s financial assistance was jointly inaugurated today by Hikmat Kumar Karki, Hon. Chief Minister of Koshi Province; Narayan Singh, First Secretary of the Embassy of India; and Kedar Prasad Guragain, Mayor of Sundarharaincha Municipality in Morang.

The construction of the school building of Shree Panchayat Madhyamik Vidyalaya was undertaken as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP). The project was implemented through the Sundarharaincha Municipality, Morang.

The Chief Minister and other stakeholders appreciated the development support being provided by the Government of India. They conveyed that the new infrastructure would help enhance the learning environment for students and educators in Sundarharaincha Municipality, Morang.

Since the inception of the HICDP programme, 605 projects have been undertaken by the Government of India, covering all 7 provinces of Nepal and spanning 74 districts across various sectors. Of these, 103 projects are located in Koshi Province, including 17 projects in Morang District. In addition, the Government of India has gifted 150 ambulances and 62 school buses to various institutions working in the health and education sectors of Koshi Province, including 21 ambulances and 17 school buses in the Morang district.

The Embassy stated that as close neighbours, India and Nepal are engaged in wide-ranging and multi-sectoral cooperation. The implementation of HICDPs reflects the continued support of the Government of India in strengthening the efforts of the Government of Nepal in promoting growth and development, apart from augmenting infrastructure in priority sectors.
