IRGDD President and Bhutanese Ambassador Explore New Horizons in Nepal-Bhutan Ties Through Track 1.5 Diplomacy

Kathmandu: A virtual meeting was held between Amb. Dr. Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal, President of the International Relations & Global Diplomacy Dialogue (IRGDD), and Non-Resident Ambassador of Bhutan to Nepal, Major General Vetsop Namgyel, on April 20.

The meeting reaffirmed the cordial relations between Nepal and Bhutan, with emphasis on strengthening people-to-people ties and advancing mutual understanding through cultural diplomacy. Both sides also noted the importance of economic diplomacy in supporting broader engagement.

The meeting further acknowledged the growing relevance of Track 1.5 diplomacy, highlighting the role of dialogue platforms such as IRGDD in complementing formal diplomatic efforts through knowledge exchange and policy discussions.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides expressing confidence in the continued strengthening of Nepal–Bhutan relations through sustained dialogue and engagement.
