The President of the International Relations and Global Diplomacy Dialogue (IRGDD), Amb. Dr. Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal, has concluded a series of strategic diplomatic and economic engagements across Japan, aimed at fostering innovation, economic diplomacy and international collaboration.

The multi-city mission underscored the IRGDD’s role in bridging the gap between national policy and global industrial advancement.

During a strategic visit to the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in Tokyo, the President held productive discussions with Mr. UMEZAKI, Director-General of the Development Studies Center (IDE-JETRO), alongside Mr. Yuji ANDO, Senior Director for Global Strategy (Southwest Asia), and Mr. Harunobu Hara, Manager for Global Strategy.

JETRO is Japan’s government-affiliated trade and investment promotion organization, operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), dedicated to facilitating international trade, supporting foreign direct investment, and providing research and policy insights on global economic developments to strengthen Japan’s economic engagement worldwide.

Continuing the mission in Osaka, the President met with Mr. NEGORO Takayoshi, Executive Director at the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI). The dialogue centered on economic diplomacy and areas of mutual interest.

On the same day, Dr. Takeshi Fukuda, Director of IBM Research, received the President in Tokyo. IBM Research is globally recognized for pioneering advanced technologies including artificial intelligence, semiconductor innovation, and cutting-edge quantum computing research. The session highlighted recent advancements in quantum computing, as well as ongoing research and development at the frontiers of technological innovation, and its application in global diplomacy.

Reflecting on the engagements, Amb. Dr. Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal reaffirmed IRGDD’s commitment to advancing high-level dialogue that drives practical economic and technological outcomes, while strengthening institutional ties and further reinforcing the longstanding Nepal–Japan partnership.
