Italy Celebrates 80th Republic Day in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: Italy celebrated its 80th Republic Day in Kathmandu on May 27. The event was done with the objective of further strengthening the relationship between Nepal and Italy. 

The special ceremony was organized at Hotel ‘Aloft’ in Thamel, jointly organized by the Honorary Consulate of Italy in Nepal and the Nepal-Italy Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Ganesh Prasad Dhakal, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as the Chief Guest addressed on behalf of the Government of Nepal where he discussed the long-standing friendly relations between Nepal and Italy and stated that the Government of Nepal is ready to increase cooperation in the fields of hydropower, tourism, and infrastructure in the coming days.

During the program, Antonio Bartoli, Non-Resident Ambassador of Italy to Nepal, praised Nepal’s art, culture, and natural beauty, pointing out the abundant investment opportunities in Nepal. He said that Italy is willing to take the diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries to new heights and will give special emphasis to tourism and cultural exchange.

Pratima Rana Pandey, Italy’s Honorary Consul, coordinated the program. Diplomats, industrialists, and businessmen were present in large numbers at the ceremony.

IRGDD President Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal was also invited as a guest to celebrate alongside the Italian Honorary Consulate. 

As the main attraction of the ceremony, artists gave special cultural performances. On the occasion, participants tasted famous Italian dishes and discussed matters of common interest and friendship between the two countries.
