Kathmandu: The Government of Japan has welcomed the appointment of former Chief Justice Sushila Karki as the interim Prime Minister of Nepal, expressing hope for a peaceful and democratic transition in the country.
In a statement issued by the Embassy of Japan in Nepal, Japan highlighted the appointment made today by President Ramchandra Paudel as an “important step” towards ensuring stability and democratic governance following recent political changes.
“The Government of Japan strongly hopes that Nepal will make a peaceful and democratic transition as early as possible. We welcome the appointment of Right Honourable Mrs. Sushila Karki as the interim Prime Minister of Nepal by Right Honourable President, Mr. Ramchandra Paudel today, as an important step in such transition,” the statement read.
Japan also reaffirmed its continued support for Nepal’s development and prosperity, while underlining its commitment to further strengthen the longstanding cordial ties between the two countries.
