Korean Ambassador Park Attends Launch of Nepali Toolkit to Combat Online Gender-Based Violence

The event was part of the Beijing+30 Activation Initiative, supported by Korea’s Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.

KATHMANDU: The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nepal, Mr. Tae-Young Park, attended the launch of the Nepali edition of the Youth Guide to End Online Gender-Based Violence Toolkit, hosted by UN Women Nepal.

The event was part of the Beijing+30 Activation Initiative, supported by Korea’s Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. It aims to raise awareness about online gender-based violence (OGBV) and empower youth and women leaders to create safer digital spaces.

In his remarks, Ambassador Park stressed the global rise in online violence against women and youth and expressed hope that the toolkit would help young Nepalis recognize and address OGBV.

He also highlighted Korea’s broader efforts to promote gender equality, including an ongoing USD 8 million KOICA project supporting Nepal’s digital safety infrastructure, cybercrime investigation tools, and capacity building.

The Korean government reaffirmed its commitment to helping ensure safer online and offline participation for women and youth in Nepal.
