KATHMANDU: Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nepal, Mr. Tae-Young Park, attended a landmark ceremony marking Nepal’s first public issuance of a Green Energy Bond.
The initiative, valued at Rs 5 billion, was supported by a KOICA-funded project implemented by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). The project aims to boost climate resilience and promote climate-smart agriculture in Nepal’s Terai region.
The bond will help fund renewable energy, green transport, climate-resilient agriculture, and energy efficiency projects. Speaking at the event, Ambassador Park highlighted the need to attract private investment and global climate finance to support Nepal’s green growth.
Minister for Forests and Environment, Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, called the issuance a milestone in Nepal’s sustainable development journey and stressed the role of international cooperation in driving green economic progress.
