Kathmandu: The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nepal, Tae-Young Park, attended the launch of the Green Hydrogen Roadmap for Nepal, published by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), marking a significant step in Nepal’s push for a green transition aligned with its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) 3.0 goals.
Organised by GGGI, the programme featured the official release of the roadmap alongside a panel discussion on low-emission brick sector development.
The Korean government, through the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s Korea Green New Deal Trust Fund (KGNDTF) managed by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), has been supporting the development of Nepal’s green hydrogen value chain and promoting non-fired brick technologies in the country.
In his congratulatory remarks, Ambassador Park underscored Korea’s continued cooperation with Nepal in hydrogen energy, hydropower, and environmentally friendly brick manufacturing, based on low-carbon technologies. He expressed hope that these collaborative efforts would accelerate Nepal’s green transformation and help achieve its NDC 3.0 targets.
Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari noted that green hydrogen development would allow Nepal to produce fertilisers domestically, enhancing agricultural productivity. He also stressed the role of technology in building resilience against climate change and thanked the Korean government for its ongoing support in Nepal’s green transition.
