Kathmandu: Ambassador Park Tae-Young of the Republic of Korea to Nepal visited the UNDP office and the construction site of the Green Venture Zone (GVC) in Pokhara on December 22 to review the progress of the project.
On December 23, Ambassador Park held a meeting with Pokhara Mayor Dhana Raj Acharya, during which he emphasized that ensuring profitability will be crucial for the long-term success of the GVC project, which integrates environmental conservation with entrepreneurship promotion. He encouraged UNDP and Pokhara Metropolitan City to continue their support and engagement.
The Green Venture Zone is a large-scale, multi-purpose cultural facility aimed at promoting a sustainable local economy through waste recycling and upcycling, as well as job creation. Supported by KOICA with USD 9.8 million, the project is being implemented by UNDP and is scheduled for completion in 2027, after which its operation will be handed over to Pokhara Metropolitan City.
