Kathmandu: A memorandum highlighting issues that the Government of Nepal should raise in the international forum has been submitted to the government under the coordination and leadership of the NGO Federation of Nepal, an umbrella organization of civil society. The letter was prepared with a focus on Nepal’s participation in the upcoming 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women.

It has been decided that a Government of Nepal delegation led by Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Shradha Shrestha, will participate in the session. The memorandum was also handed over, on behalf of civil society organizations, to Radhika Aryal, Secretary of the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens, and Joint Secretary Abha Shrestha, who will be part of the delegation.

According to the Federation, the memorandum clearly presents positions on gender equality, women’s empowerment, protection of women’s rights, the status of policy implementation, and Nepal’s priorities in fulfilling international commitments. Civil society has urged the government to effectively raise the country’s real situation and the collective voice of stakeholders in the international forum.
This initiative is expected to strengthen collaboration between the government and civil society and make Nepal’s representation more effective at the international level.
