Kathmandu: The Embassy of India, Kathmandu, the Ministry of Land Management, Co-operatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration, Government of Nepal and Project Implementing Agencies of Government of Nepal, signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) on August 11 for undertaking 8 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal through grant assistance from the Government of India in the education, health and agriculture sectors with a total estimated cost of Nepali Rupees 803 million.
These eight projects include Digitalization of B.P. Koirala Institute of Health and Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan, Sunsari, Construction of Krishi Utpadan Sankalan Tatha Bikri Kendra in Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality, Ward No.9, Bhojpur, Construction of Municipal Agricultural and Livestock Center Building in Jwalamukhi Rural Municipality-6, Dhading, Construction of Building of Belbari Multiple Campus, Belbari Municipality-3, Morang, Construction of 10 Bed Hospital, in Dungeshwor Rural Municipality, Ward No. 5, Dailekh, Construction of Agriculture Promotion Centre in Sarkegad Rural Municipality, Ward No. 4, Humla, Construction of Cold Store in Kaligandaki Rural Municipality, Ward No.4, Syangja, and Construction of 15 Bed Hospital Building in Barju Rural Municipality, Sunsari. These projects will be implemented through local authorities and institutions of the Government of Nepal.
Since 2003, Government of India has undertaken 605 HICDPs in Nepal, including the 8 projects for which MoUs were signed on August 11. Out of these, 512 projects have been completed in the areas of health, education, agriculture, drinking water, connectivity, sanitation and creation of public utilities, and the remaining projects are at various stages of implementation.
As close neighbours, India and Nepal are engaged in wide-ranging and multi-sectoral cooperation. The implementation of HICDPs reflects the continued support of the Government of India in strengthening the efforts of the Government of Nepal in promoting growth and development, apart from augmenting infrastructure in priority sectors.
