NEGAAS Holds 37th AGM, Strengthening Nepal–Germany Academic and Cultural Ties

Kathmandu: Marking another milestone in academic and cultural cooperation between Nepal and Germany, the Nepal German Academic Association (NEGAAS) successfully held its 37th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Dekkaido Onsen, Budhanilakantha, on January 10.

The Ambassador of Germany to Nepal, Udo Volz, attended the program as the Chief Guest, underscoring the importance of NEGAAS as an organization that demonstrates the benefits of academic exchange programs.

Addressing the AGM, Ambassador Volz underlined NEGAAS’s role in demonstrating the long-term benefits of academic exchange programs.

He highlighted Germany’s development cooperation in Nepal, particularly in the areas of energy, sustainable economic development, and health, and also shed light on ongoing efforts to streamline visa procedures amid a rising number of Nepalis travelling to Germany for study, work, and other purposes. He reaffirmed his support by stating that his “door would always be open for initiatives of NEGAAS.”

The meeting was attended by past presidents of NEGAAS, including Dr. Chandra Bahadur Joshi, Dr. Roshana Shrestha, Surendra Dhakal, and Dr. Ramesh Kumar Maskey, along with life members of the association.

Ananta Poudyal, President, and Sudarshan Neupane, General Secretary, of the Australia Nepal Alumni Association (ANNA) also participated as distinguished guests, reinforcing collaboration among alumni networks. The program was chaired by NEGAAS President Dr. Babita Paudel, who highlighted the role of alumni organizations in nation-building.
