Nepal Co-hosts the World Water Day 2026 Event

Kathmandu: Nepal co-hosts the World Water Day 2026 event with the Netherlands, Pakistan, Senegal, Tajikistan, and the United Arab Emirates.

Deputy Permanent Representative of Nepal at UN in New York, Gyan Bahadur Magar, highlighted the profound impacts of climate change on Nepal’s water systems and mountain livelihoods. He emphasized the urgent need for gender-responsive and climate-resilient water governance, while reaffirming Nepal’s strong commitment to the global water agenda.

Priorities include equitable access to safe drinking water, food security, energy, and sanitation; strengthening community-based water management; and promoting women’s leadership in water policy at all levels.
