Kathmandu: The Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations, Ambassador Lok Bahadur Thapa, attended the Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) Ambassadorial meeting on Mauriania.
During his address, Ambassador Thapa commended Mauritania for its nationally owned and led, inclusive, prevention-focused, and forward-looking National Strategy for Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion, launched recently.
Moreover, Thapa also highlighted the importance of strong national leadership and broad societal participation in ensuring the effectiveness and long-term impact of the strategy.
Affirming that peace is not merely a by-product of security, he underscored that sustainable peace is rooted in equity, justice, inclusivity, and trust between citizens and the State, emphasizing that addressing the root causes of conflict is essential to preventing relapse and fostering durable peace.
