Nepal Defeats India in Women’s Football Friendly Match in Penalty Shootout

Kathmandu: Nepal defeated India 3-0 in a penalty shootout to win a friendly women’s football match held at Palzor Stadium in Sikkim, India, on October 29.

The match went into a tie-breaker after both teams were locked 1-1 at the end of regulation time. Nepal’s Anita Basnet scored in extra time, while India’s Soumya Guguloth had earlier equalized in the 30th minute.

In the shootout, Sabita Ranamagar, Rashmi Kumari Ghising, and Nisha Thokar converted their penalties for Nepal. Goalkeeper Anjana Ranamagar was the hero of the match, saving India’s first and third penalties, while the second Indian attempt went off target.

With this win, Nepal marked a strong performance against the host team in the friendly encounter.
