Nepal Embassy Hosts ‘Nepal-China Investment and Business Event 2026’ in Beijing

Kathmandu: The Embassy of Nepal jointly with China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) hosted a program entitled “Nepal-China Investment and Business Event 2026” in Beijing on July 2. The Embassy stated that the event aimed to promote investment and business exchanges between Nepal and China by matchmaking and experience sharing between the potential investors and business enterprises of the two countries.

In his opening remarks, Xu Qiang, Director General of Bilateral Cooperation Department of China Chamber of International Commerce stressed that the event will be highly useful to seize opportunities for bilateral cooperation and establish a high-calibre, specialized platform for targeted economic and trade matchmaking, with a pragmatic, streamlined agenda tailored to the practical operational demands of enterprises.

Similarly, H.E. Roshan Khanal, Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy, while emphasizing the commitment and recent efforts of the Government of Nepal to create an enabling environment for the investors, invited the Chinese entrepreneurs to integrate Nepal into the high value, low-weight, and weightless supply chain of China. She urged the Chinese investors and traders to tap the opportunities lying in various sectors of Nepal.

Minister (Economic) from the Embassy, Parbati Aryal, made a comprehensive presentation on “Trade and Investment Opportunities and Policies”. She highlighted the overall governance framework for investment, recent reform measures, potential sectors as well as projects in Nepal and requested the participants to tap on the paramount investment potentials of Nepal.

Several government and business sector representatives including from Trade and Export Promotion Centre (TEPC), Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FNCCІ), Federation of Export Entrepreneurs Nepal (FEEN) and Nepal Herbs and Herbal Products Association (NEHHPA) delivered their speeches from Nepali side with special focus to enhancing investment in herbal, IT, Tourism, hydroelectricity, energy, garments, and infrastructure sectors. While sharing their experiences and potential sectors for investment, they urged Chinese counterparts to forge enhanced partnership for mutually beneficial projects.

Two Chinese business representatives shared their experiences of working in Nepal and called on the entrepreneurs to stick to better pre-project planning, adopt locally suitable adaptive technologies, pursue innovative financing, deepen localized operations and uphold low carbon development to thrive in the Nepali markets.

A Business-to-Business matchmaking meeting was organized between Nepali and Chinese entrepreneurs during the programme. Nepali entrepreneurs from different sectors such as Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FNCCI), Federation of Export Entrepreneurs Nepal (FEEN), Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal, Nepal Herbs and Herbal Products Association (NEHHPA), garment industries, among others visited China to participate in this event. The event was attended by nearly 100 participants including government and private sector representatives and Embassy officials.
