Kathmandu: The Embassy of Nepal in UAE organized a ‘Passport Renewal, Consular, and Labor Awareness Program’ in Ghayathi City of Al Dhafra Region on June 6. Nepalese people working in Ruwais and various surrounding cities were present at the program.
In the program, Nepali workers were provided with information on various topics including passport renewal, police report verification and other consular services, including the use of the MoFA Mitra App, which was recently launched by the consular services department, on the labor laws of the United Arab Emirates, the issues adopted by the Nepalese government for the rights and safety of workers, safe foreign employment, rights and duties of workers, social security fund (SSF) mobilization, search and rescue, etc. Also, practical information about downloading and using UAE’s MoHRE App and Nepal’s SSF App, MoFA Mitra App and Citizen App was given and most of the participating workers installed these apps.
In addition, they were also informed that if there is a problem related to workers’ salary, service-facilities or other labor related issues, they can register a complaint through the official portal of the Consular Services Department and get legal assistance.
The event was attended by the Ambassador, H.E. Tej Bahadur Chhetri, and the embassy’s diplomats and local staff.
