Nepal Government Welcomes Signing of MoU between the US and Iran

Kathmandu: The Government of Nepal has welcomed the signing of “The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding Between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran” on June 18.

Nepal had welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire on 8 April 2026. “We are encouraged to witness the successful culmination of diplomatic efforts in signing of the United States-Iran Peace Deal by the Presidents of the United States and Iran,” Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The Government of Nepal has been closely monitoring the developments in West Asia since the onset of the conflict, which has had far-reaching implications for the global economy including Nepal. Nepal remains hopeful that the Peace Deal will contribute to lasting peace and stability in West Asia, while facilitating the normalisation of the maritime navigation affected by the conflict, the Ministry further stated.

The Government also stated that Nepal deeply appreciates the pivotal role played by the countries mediating the process and reiterates its support to all the efforts by the international community aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region and beyond.
