Nepal Hands Over USD 350,000 for Reconstruction Works in Mandalay

Kathmandu: Harishchandra Ghimire, Ambassador of Nepal to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, handed over a donation of USD 300,000 to U Than Oo, Secretary General of Mahamuni Pagoda, during a ceremony held at the pagoda premises on February 14.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Ghimire said Nepal and Myanmar have supported each other during difficult times. He noted that the assistance from Nepal is aimed at reconstructing the Stone Inscription House within the Mahamuni Pagoda compound in Mandalay, which was damaged by the devastating earthquake in March 2025.

Mayor of Mandalay City U Kyaw San expressed gratitude to the Government of Nepal for its support.

On the same occasion, Ambassador Ghimire also handed over USD 50,000 to Pawan Bajoria, President of the Gangaghat Hindu Temple Trustee, at a separate ceremony held in Gangaghat, Mandalay.

Members of the local Nepali community, including Sagar Ghimire, President of the All Myanmar Gorkha Hindu Religious Association, attended both ceremonies.
