Kathmandu: Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Bala Nanda Sharma, held a telephone conversation on March 16 with the Foreign Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, to discuss the evolving situation in the West Asia region.
During the conversation, Minister Sharma expressed concern over the attack on Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also appreciated the efforts of the Kuwaiti government in maintaining stability and ensuring the safety and security of all residents, including members of the Nepali community living in the country.
Foreign Minister Al-Sabah stated that the ongoing war violates international territorial law as well as humanitarian principles upheld by the United Nations. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to safeguarding Nepali nationals in Kuwait and expressed hope that the regional tensions would be resolved peacefully through dialogue.
Both ministers emphasised the importance of restraint, dialogue, and diplomatic engagement to ensure peace and stability in the region. They also expressed hope for an early de-escalation of tensions and a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict.
