Kathmandu: Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh and Thakugaon Diabetic Samity jointly organized ‘Eye Camp’ in Thankurgaon on August 2. The inauguration of the Eye Camp was joined by Pratik Karki, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Nepal, and H.E. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives of Bangladesh.
Speaking as the Guest of Honour, Deputy Chief Karki commended the initiative for its contribution to advancing medical tourism in Nepal and strengthening the longstanding people-to-people ties between Nepal and Bangladesh.
The Embassy stated that the Eye Camp is providing comprehensive eye checkups and cataract surgeries to patients in Thakurgaon. A 13-member team of Nepali professionals, including ophthalmologists, senior eye health workers from Biratnagar Eye Hospital and Lahan Eye Hospital, and representatives of Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh, is currently in Bangladesh for the programme.
Around 3,000 Bangladeshi nationals are expected to benefit from the Eye Camp.
