Kathmandu: On the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, Nepal reiterated its firm stance on nuclear disarmament at the United Nations General Assembly.
Addressing the Assembly, Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations Ambassador Lok Bahadur Thapa reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to advancing a nuclear-free world and called for upholding key global treaties, including the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT).
He stressed that Nepal rejects nuclear deterrence and any threats of nuclear use. Highlighting the importance of awareness, Ambassador Thapa also underscored the need to educate and engage youth in building a peaceful and nuclear-free future.
