Kathmandu: Nepal attended the 9th Biennial Meeting of States on Illicit Small Arms & Light Weapons that kicked off in UN HQ on June 2. Nepal underscored the effective implementation of the UN Program of Action on Small Arms and Light Weapons and the International Tracing Instrument to prevent diversion & illicit transfer of SALWs.
Speaking at the meeting, Jimson Rumdali Rai, Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Nepal to UN, called for action in 3 key areas: Strengthening Prevention, Closing Tech Gaps, and Disarmament and Development.
