Kathmandu: Newly elected members of the House of Representatives took the oath of office and secrecy today amid a formal ceremony at Singha Durbar.
The oath was administered by the senior-most member of the House, Arjun Narsingh KC of the Nepali Congress. The ceremony was held at the newly constructed multi-purpose hall within the government complex.
Earlier, Ramchandra Paudel had administered the oath of office and secrecy to KC on Wednesday.

The oath-taking process is guided by provisions in Articles 99 and 91(5) of the Constitution of Nepal, as well as Clause 75 of the House of Representatives Member Election Act, 2074.
According to the results of the March 5 elections, the Rastriya Swatantra Party emerged as the largest party with 182 seats. The Nepali Congress secured 38 seats, followed by CPN (UML) with 25 seats, the Nepali Communist Party with 17 seats, the Shram Sanskriti Party with seven, and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party with five seats.
