Kathmandu: The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kathmandu celebrated the achievements of the Access to Justice (A2J) project, which has strengthened the rule of law and expanded legal aid for marginalized communities across Nepal.
The project, a partnership with the Nepal Bar Association (NBA), UNDP Nepal, and the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, has made notable strides. With Norwegian support, the NBA has institutionalized pro bono legal services and deployed 345 law interns to remote areas, with 70% women participation. Many alumni of the programme now hold key legal positions in the country.
As Norway’s direct support concludes, the embassy highlighted that A2J initiatives are being integrated into government budgets and judicial practices, ensuring sustainable impact for the future.
