Kathmandu: The Embassy of Pakistan in Nepal marked the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan with a flag-hoisting ceremony at the Chancery. Ambassador Abrar H Hashmi unfurled the national flag in the presence of Pakistani community members, Nepali friends, and embassy officials with their families. This year’s celebration carried the spirit of victory in “Marka-e-Haq.”
In messages on the occasion, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif paid tribute to the courage, unity, and sacrifices of the nation’s founders, highlighting Pakistan’s resilience and achievements over the past 78 years in diverse fields, including economy, sports, defence, and technology.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar emphasized the significance of “Marka-e-Haq,” describing it as a military and diplomatic triumph, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding sovereignty, supporting the Kashmiri cause, and upholding global peace.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Hashmi honored the struggle of 1947 and praised Pakistan’s leadership and armed forces for their role in recent events. A prayer was offered for the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s independence and preservation of “Azadi.”
