Prime Minister Shah Meets with Australian Ambassador Ernst

Kathmandu: Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Shah expressed his gratitude during the courtesy meeting held by H.E. Simon Ernst, Ambassador of Australia to Nepal, at the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar on October 1.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister mentioned that there has been a huge loss of life due to floods and landslides and further informed that the Government of Nepal is mobilizing all available resources for search, rescue, relief and rehabilitation.

After the disaster, the Prime Minister Shah praised Australia for sending expert drone operators, relief materials and a 17-member disaster cooperation and response team to Nepal. In addition, Prime Minister Shah said that the assistance of 11 million Australian dollars provided by Australia is a symbol of the strong relationship between the two countries.

​Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shah said that the Nepal government is giving high priority to the search for Australian citizens who are missing due to the flood. Prime Minister Shah also thanked Australia for its continuous support in human resource development of Nepal.

During the meeting, Ambassador Ernst expressed his condolences for the loss Nepal suffered due to the natural disaster. In addition, he also praised the strong and effective presence of Nepal in the United Nations recently.
