Jigyan Kumar Thapa, Proposed Ambassador to Japan, Withdraws Nomination

Kathmandu: Jigyan Kumar Thapa, the government’s nominee for the post of Nepal’s ambassador to Japan, has withdrawn his nomination, opting out of the parliamentary hearing and the subsequent appointment process, the state-run RSS reported.

Speaking at a meeting of the Federal Parliamentary Hearings Committee on November 2, Committee Chair Bodh Narayan Shrestha said Thapa had informed the committee of his decision through a letter. Thapa reportedly withdrew his nomination following questions over a potential conflict of interest related to his proposed appointment.
